Day 6 Recap

Friday the 13th wasn’t bad luck here in Whitehorse! Over 700 medals have been awarded this week, and we aren’t done yet.

It was a big day for team events as well as individual events. It was great fun seeing the teams working together to fight for their placement! I hope the athletes are having as much fun, if not more, than those of us watching.

The individual gold medals were won by:

Alaska: Breea Larae Rose Holman, Archery Individual Compound U18 female; Molly Ann Evans, Arctic Sports Alaskan High Kick U17 female; Don Heflin, Arctic Sports Alaskan High Kick U17 male; Don Heflin, Arctic Sports All Around U17 male; Mira Quinn Posey, Snowshoeing 5.0km Long Distance U15 female; and Sigrid Eller, Snowshoeing 7.5km Long Distance U19 female.

Yukon: Mya WIlson, Archery Individual Barebow U18 female; Avery Meger, Archery Individual Compound U18 female; Daniel Hu, Badminton Singles U18 male; and Mahée Patera Marchand, Snowshoeing 7.5km Long Distance U19 female.

Alberta North: Aditi Jiju, Badminton Singles U16 female, Christoffe Yeoj Fabian, Badminton Singles U18 male; Kehlan Duncan, Snowshoeing 5.0km Long Distance U15 male; and Ola Gawlak, Speed Skating 777m Individual U19 female.

Northwest Territories: Greta Katherine Kohle, Archery Individual Barebow U18 female; Veronica McDonald, Arctic Sports Kneel Jump Open female; Christopher Stipdonk, Arctic Sports Airplane Open male; Lindsey Stipdonk, Speed Skating 1500m Individual U15 female; Yuma McEachern, Speed Skating 1500m Individual U15 male; Brigid Murphy, Speed Skating 1500m Individual U19 female; and Peter Mahon, Speed Skating 1500m Individual U19 male.

Greenland: Abia Zeeb, Arctic Sports One Foot High Kick Open male; Bruno Nathansen, Badminton Singles U16 male; and Arnajaraq Frederiksen, Badminton Singles U18 female.

Team Alaska is taking home gold in: Biathlon Ski 3x3.0km Relay U15 mix, Biathlon Snowshoe 3x2.0km Relay U15 mix, Cross Country Skiing Team Sprint Freestyle U14 female, Cross Country Skiing Team Sprint Freestyle U14 male, Cross Country Skiing Team Sprint Freestyle U18 female, and Hockey U18 male.

Team Yukon won gold in: Badminton Doubles U16 male, Biathlon Ski 3x3.0km Relay U15 male, Biathlon Snowshoe 3x2.0km Relay U15 mix, Cross Country Skiing Team Sprint Freestyle U14 male, Hockey U15 male, Hockey U18 male, Speed Skating 3000m Relay U19 male, and Volleyball U19 male.

Team Alberta North will be taking team gold home in: Badminton Doubles U16 female, Badminton Doubles U18 male, Team 1 Badminton Doubles U18 mix, Basketball U19 male, Cross Country Skiing Team Sprint Freestyle U18 male, Speed Skating 3000m Relay U15 female, and Volleyball U19 male.

Team NWT is taking home gold medals in: Speed Skating 3000m Relay U15 male and U19 female.

Team Kalaallit Nunaat are bringing back gold in: Badminton Doubles U16 male, Team 1 Badminton Doubles U16 mix, Badminton Doubles U18 female, Table Tennis Doubles U18 mix, Table Tennis Mixed Team U15 mix, and Table Tennis Mixed Team U18 mix.

Team Nunabut won gold in Hockey U15 male.

Team Sapmi won gold in U16 male and female for Cross Country Skiing Team Sprint Freestyle.

Tomorrow is the final day of competition and wrapping up with U16 Futsal as well as the closing ceremony. You don’t want to miss out!
