About the Games

In 1967, the Arctic Winter Games were born from a desire to provide athletes from the North with a platform to shine. Today, the Games are more than just a multi-sport event; they are a celebration of culture, community, and personal growth. From the first Games in 1970 to the upcoming 2026 event, the Arctic Winter Games have become a cornerstone of northern identity, fostering intergenerational connections and lifelong friendships.

Whitehorse 2026 Arctic Winter Games

The 2026 Arctic Winter Games are taking place in Whitehorse, Yukon from March 8-15th, 2026. The Host Society is dedicated to delivering an inclusive and culturally significant event that celebrates all participants and promotes personal growth, lasting friendships and community bonds. We are committed to creating a lasting legacy that enriches lives across the circumpolar north.

Land Acknowledgement

We respectfully acknowledge that the 2026 Arctic Winter Games will take place on the traditional territories of Kwanlin Dun and Ta’an Kwach’an First Nations. As we gather to celebrate athleticism, culture and community we are reminded of not only our two Host First Nations but of the rich heritage and profound contributions of all fourteen Yukon First Nations and honour their lasting connection to this land.
